Here is some information regarding soy candles.
Candle burning times will vary slightly depending on the placement of your candle. Drafty areas will affect candle burning times as candles will burn slightly quicker and less evenly. For best results do not burn near a fan, air vent or open window.
Candle burning times will also vary depending on the height of your wick. The longer the wick, the shorter the candle burning time.
You can extend your candle burning time by burning the candles long enough to allow the wax pool to reach the edge of the container. One hour for every inch of diameter should do it. Candles have a sort of memory. If you do not allow them to burn all the way to the edge of the container when you first burn them, they will begin to tunnel down into the wax instead of melting all the way to the edges which will shorten your candle burning times and affect the overall appearance of the candle.
The following candle burning times are based on our own tests with our own candles. Every candle maker has their own recipe and ingredients, so candle burning times will vary by manufacturer. A good estimate is 6-7 hours of burn time per ounce of wax.
Preserve Jar Soy Candles
Small candle 8 oz = 48-56 hours
Large candle 16 oz = 64-80 hours
Remember, burn times are an estimate and can be greatly affected by the environment in which the candle is used.
When burning your soy candle, always burn until the wax liquefies to the edge of the container. Not letting the candle liquefy to the edge will result in tunneling and poorly affect your candle burning time.
You may notice some mushrooming of the wick. This is completely normal for the natural wicks that we use. Always trim the wick before each use, keep wick trimmed to 1/4 - 1/8 inch for the best soy candle burning results. Do not allow wick trimmings to fall into your wax melt pool.
We recommend extinguishing your soy candle by using a candle snuffer or by bending the wick over into the wax. Always re-center the wick for proper burning the next time you light your soy candle. This will extend your candle burning time over the life of the candle.
You can burn your soy candles too long. The maximum recommended burn time is 4 hours per burn. Burning longer than the recommended time is also dangerous, especially when combined with improper wick trimming. Although we use heat-safe containers, an improperly trimmed wick can create a high flame and temperature forming a deep melt pool.
Although soy candles produces less soot than paraffin candles you should not burn too many candles in one small room. Make sure that there’s enough ventilation in the room.
Keep burning soy candles away from children, pets and flammable materials. Never leave burning candles unattended.
Do not place soy candles next to each other. Allow enough space -minimum 1/4"- between the candles.
Allow soy candle to cool and harden before relighting.
