Does this sound crazy and backward? It might but hear me out.
Living with oily skin, which I do, is tough. Your skin gets oilier and oilier as the day goes on. But how can Olive oil solve the problem? Olive oil can go a long way in helping control oil production and acne.
Olive oil is a natural moisturizer that helps clear bacteria and inflammation. It helps seal moisture into your skin, calming your glands, so they don't produce excessive oil. Olive oil is also rich in antioxidants, which help repair your skin from damage and keep it looking healthy.
Olive oil has strong antibacterial properties, which can help combat problem oily skin type problems. It is non-comedogenic so that it won't clog your pores. Instead, it will help alleviate bacteria, excess oils and dead skin, as well as help purify your skin.
Try this treatment overnight: Wash, cleanse, and exfoliate your face—Pat with a dry towel. Apply 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil to your face. Massage it gently in a circular motion with your fingertips. Do this for about 3 to 4 minutes. Then go to bed, leaving the oil on your skin.
This "cleansing" method not only moisturizes your face but will cleanse it and may help clear acne. This is all possible through olive oil's anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. This cleanse will also help stave off your skin's overproduction of oils!
How about a weekly/bi-weekly treatment?
Combine the following ingredients in a bowl and mix until you get a smooth consistency.
1 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tsp Lemon Juice
1 tbsp Raw Honey
Once it is mixed, place the bowl in another bowl of warm to hot water to thin out the mixture. It will make it easier to spread. Once it is warm and more pliable, apply the warmed mixture onto your face and neck. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then wash your face with warm water and then again with cool water.
Honey is a powerful humectant that helps bind moisture to your skin. Lemon and honey both have bleaching properties, which may help fade blemishes and give your clearer and glowing skin!
